These 16 original songs have kids’ concerns directly at heart, and like many blues classics, sometimes they’ll make you want to cry, dance, be quietly alone, or just laugh out loud! The Re-Bops’ Even Kids Get The Blues is designed to introduce children to this dynamic music genre, and to demonstrate that expressing their own real-life feelings and experiences through the blues is nothing short of empowering.

The 12 talented kids on this recording are backed by The Unknown Blues Band, whose musicians have played with blues legends such as Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Etta James, Junior Wells, Howlin’ Wolf, Paul Butterfield, and B.B. King. Naturally, we are thrilled about Bonnie Raitt supporting the project, and for her contribution to the title track. And we are delighted that the art of award-winning author and illustrator Thacher Hurd (Mama Don’t Allow, Zoom City, Art Dog) graces the cover and lyric booklet —which also features renowned guitarist-songwriter Paul Asbell’s informative and entertaining comments on each song’s authentic blues style. To honor blues musicians past and present, this project was created during “The Year of the Blues” (www.yearoftheblues.org), as proclaimed by the U.S. Congress, and a portion of its proceeds will be donated to Little Kids Rock, an innovative, non-profit music education program that provides free instruments and instruction to disadvantaged children.
